Boston, Books, and High Tea
If you want to enjoy a lovely and delicious high tea and you’re using a wheelchair or a mobility scooter, Boston’s The Courtyard Tea Room has you covered. Tucked away inside the Boston Public Library at Copley Square, this restaurant is elegant, bright, easy to access and set with plenty of room to maneuver between tables. And the staff is ready, willing and able to assist.
The restaurant is off to the right inside the main Hall. Reservations are a must and we found them a bit hard to get. It turns out because seating is limited, they release dates only a few weeks ahead so you have to check their website frequently, but it’s worth it.
While I could have taken my scooter right up to the table, I wanted to charge it while we dined. The matre ‘d offered me an outlet in the large coat check area at the front of the restaurant, which I happily accepted, and I walked to our table.
As we were being seated, I mentioned to him that we were so happy to be celebrating Donna’s birthday in the Tea Room, something we had been wanting to do for a long time. (We’ve known about The Courtyard for years, but never seemed to be able to get there.)
A minute later he returned with a birthday card and a glass of Prosecco and offered her his best wishes for a very Happy day. It was perfect.
