The Brant Foundation - Adventures In Contemporary Art

The Brant Foundation is an art exhibition space located at 421 East 6th Street. The building is a former substation for Consolidated Edison and was used as the home and studio of artist Walter De Maria from the mid-1980's until his death in 2013. After undergoing a renovation the building reopened as The Brant Foundation in 2019 and is open to the public for exhibits.

NOTE: Visit the website https://www.brantfoundation.org/ for information on the Current Exhibit and reservations for timed tickets. Most exhibits are free but occasionally there is an admission fee. Not all floors are open for all exhibits.

The current exhibit of "Female Figure" by artist Jordan Wolfson is located in one room accessible by elevator. Viewing is limited to 4 people at a time and it takes approximately 10 minutes to view. "Female Figure" will be on view through December 31, 2022.

The accessible entrance to the building is located to the right of the main entrance. The staff will open the locked gate and you will enter the building through the small garden.

The inaugural exhibit in 2019 was works of Jean-Michel Basquiat and filled multiple floors in the building.
