200 TRUNKS, 200 VISIONARIES: THE EXHIBITION
To celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Louis Vuitton the exhibit "200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries: The Exhibition" makes its fourth and final stop in New York.
The exhibition is located in the former Barney’s Department store on Madison Avenue.
Once inside you pass through a great hallway.
200 artists, designers and prominent people in other fields where asked to use a blank trunk approximately the same size as the original trunk that Louis Vuitton created in the 1850's to design and create. The displays range from the colorful and playful to those with a message.
The exhibit on multiple floors is divided into rooms - navigation through the exhibit is easy. There are ramps and elevators and an accessible restroom. Staff members are friendly, knowledgeable about the artists and works on display and super helpful.
One of the most fun and most colorful of the rooms is the balloon room!
At the end of the exhibit there is a space called "The Workshop" where cultural, educational and art activities will take place at various times. Schedule can be found on the webpage when you make your reservation. There is also an option to dine at "Freds" a revival of the iconic Barneys' restaurant.
